When I think about the
world I would like to leave to my daughter and the grandchildren I hope to
have, it is a world that moves away from unequal, unstable, unsustainable
interdependence to integrated communities - locally, nationally and
globally-that share the characteristics of all successful communities.

Hi LaTonya,
ReplyDeleteI too chose Susan Bredekamp as an educational contributor who inspires me through her work in the field. Her life work shows that the quote isn't just fluff, but something that she has living out. What she was saying was she wasn't looking for her dreams to explain the meaning of her life, but rather for her life to explain the meaning of her dreams. Her dreams didn't give her life meaning, but her life gave her dreams meaning! That is so powerful! Without her being, what she had accomplished would have never occurred. We as educators need to take on that same insight and realize that our lives can bring important changes to this world that no one else can bring if we allow our lives to bring meaning to the world.
Hi LaTonya,
ReplyDeleteI love Sue's quote. I definitely want the way I live my life to be a testimony of who I am and the passions of my heart. I pray that my life will do all of the speaking for me!
I love President Clinton's quote! We should definitely want our children to use words and not weapons. If they want to use a weapon use the weapon of words to speak out against injustices and inequalities!
Thank you for sharing!
LaTonya,
ReplyDeleteI could definitely agree with President Clinton's quote because if we begin to educate our young children on the importance of not using weapons as the answer to resolve conflict, our children will make this world a better place.
If we begin by enforcing TV networks to stop showing these violent shows and movies, things could be better. I just watched 20/20 last week about kids and guns, it was very interesting because the manufacturers of guns are making them so enticing to young children that it will be hard for parents to keep their child from wanting to play with one. This is when we have to teach them about safety.
Great quote by President Clinton
